“We have been fortunate to secure Savana time in school over the last term and a half, and this has meant we can provide very much needed support for a great number of students. Most of our students have accessed small group work sessions and they have found these to be positive, and asked if they can even attend more sessions! Some students were identified during group sessions as requiring some further 1-to-1 support, and the pastoral team also identified other students who needed private support in the form of 1-to-1.

Students have developed good relationships with the facilitator and have actively been discussing how positively they have viewed these sessions.”

“We have appreciated the benefit of having access to Savanna in school. We have found that we have been able to quickly target support for students particularly where the background of Savana and the knowledge of the practitioner fits the needs of the student and the reason for the referral. We have been able to get support for students where we have struggled to support them internally particularly where there are issues of low self-esteem and students at risk of harmful sexualised behaviour or who have displayed that behaviour.

The feedback from students has been positive and they have appreciated the inputs.”

“Ann supplies a service to our school for 1:1 counselling. She bases herself here for 1 day a week on a Tuesday. The support and work Ann does is very valuable for our students.

It is a quick and easy referral process and this enables students to receive fast, professional support at the right time when they need it. Students feel valued and listened to in the counselling and intervention sessions and always look forward to seeing her the following week. The interventions that Ann carries out is allowing us to give fast and effective support to small groups of students when they are in need. These interventions are enabling students to feel more equipped to make better choices and to reflect on their own relationships. Ann carries out interventions with students 1:1 if they a more comfortable and if they have a certain topic that needs to be discussed.

We hope to continue working in collaboration with Ann and Savana for many years to come. “
