Self worth

Self-worth is the deep, unshakable belief that we are loved or worthy of being loved.

Self-worth is not fixed, it changes all of the time… sometimes we can feel confident and know that we are worthy of love and at other times we can feel the complete opposite!

Let find out a bit more about self worth…

People with higher self-worth are often

  • More confident in their abilities.
  • More resilient, they don’t let challenges set them back.
  • More comfortable sharing their opinion even if they differ to other peoples.
  • Less likely to let setbacks change how they feel about themselves.
  • Are more willing to set and enforce boundaries.
  • Treat themselves with love and respect.

People with lower self-worth may

  • Have no belief in their abilities.
  • Find it difficult to make decisions.
  • Not believe that their opinion matters.
  • Put other people down.
  • Fear failure.
  • Have trouble saying no.
  • Struggle to set and enforce boundaries.

Remember that self-worth is about recognising your value as a person. It is not tied to your external achievements or comparisons with others.

All you have to be is yourself, that is always enough!
